Suzanna Fowers
Welcome to Everrgold....
Your breath catches at your luxurious surroundings. Red velvet curtains hang heavy across the windows, blocking out the night. Chandeliers sway above. The walls are covered in garish trophies—paintings of shipwrecks in ornate gilt frames. Not to mention rum and Glass bottles clutter every space. Funny how these men call merfolk the thieves.
Your heart pounds as you begin your search.
You rush toward the mahogany desk, rifling through papers, an Atlas and charts, pushing aside a jeweled dagger and an ivory compass.
Nothing.
The leather trunk at the foot of the captain's bed seems promising. You throw it open—silks, velvets, a tricorn hat with peacock feathers, even a Diamond. You dig deeper, but find only more stolen finery.
The bookshelf is next. You pull volumes down one by one, shaking them, checking for hidden compartments. A book on navigation. A tome of sea legends. An Eyeglass. A ledger filled with numbers.
Where is it? Your father's life is at stake. And the captain will retire to his quarters soon! He can't catch you here!

Flinging open the doors of the wardrobe, you push through the captain's coats. You search the pockets and find a Rope. Not what you're looking for.
With a sigh, you drop to your knees and peer into the darkness under the bed. A piratical Gun. And then  you see it hiding in the furthest corner. An intricately decorated iron chest pushed near the wall. You reach, reach, and reach, finally managing to scrape out the heavy box. Of course, it's locked! Swiping up a jeweled dagger from the desk, you jam it into the lock, twisting, prying. The lock breaks with a snap, and your fingers pull on the lid—
The door creaks open behind you.
And you freeze. Is this the Shadow of the Tides?

"Well... it appears I have a guest." The voice is low, dangerous, like the rumble of distant thunder. "Did you find what you were searching for?"

Well... did you?
